The Geographic Information Systems Analyst is responsible for development and maintenance of the proprietary and other mapping or GIS software, collection, storage and analysis of economic development zone data.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
Development and maintenance of mapping tools and databases, data conversion, manipulation and analysis
Establishing systems to track projects, status and provide management metrics
Manage joint data projects with IT development, locations manager, GIS technician and reporting manager
Special projects as assigned
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Requirements:
BS/MS in Geographic Information Systems, Geography, Computer Science or related area
0-3 years experience; excellent technical skills, including familiarity with relational databases and GIS mapping software applications
Proficiency in Microsoft Office products, particularly Microsoft Access and Excel using queries, forms and macros
Experience with Arcview, MapInfo, Manifold or qGIS and data QA/QC background
Knowledge of relational databases (basic SQL), Excel (PivotTables/PowerPivot knowledge a plus) and GIS concepts, including shapefiles, projections and geocoding
Google Earth/Maps – KMZ/KML
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Organizational skills and strong attention to detail
Sense of urgency to meet internal and external client deadlines
Highly responsive and adaptable to evolving priorities
Ability to work and thrive in a dynamic team environment as well as act independently
