The GIS development team at the City and County of Denver is currently seeking a talented Senior Developer to join us in building the next wave of innovative GIS solutions. We are exploring new ways to use the latest GIS technology to serve both internal and external customers including eGovernment initiatives such as location-based services and interactive constituent engagement. Our team develops software using the Scrum software development framework, allowing us to be agile and to work closely with our customers. We value high quality software and we use continuous integration (automated builds, automated unit testing, static code analysis and automated test deployments) to allow us to develop software rapidly. Our team is skilled in the latest technologies including ArcGIS Server, the ArcGIS Server JavaScript API, Dojo, ASP.NET MVC, WCF (JSON and SOAP services), Entity Framework, Visual Studio and Team Foundation Server. We are currently using the Visual Studio 2008 Team System and we will soon be adopting VSTS 2012 Ultimate. We are currently focused on reinventing and replacing older GIS solutions and this position provides you with the opportunity to shape the future of GIS in Denver. We also explore open geodata technologies (ex. RESTful services using GeoJSON, KML, etc.) to make Denver's spatial content more accessible to our customers. This Senior GIS Developer will coordinate and lead technical work and will provide a technical leadership role on the team. The majority of time will be focused on hands-on design and implementation and the selected individual will also consult frequently with customers and other Technology Services teams. DenverGIS implements and sustains a viable geographic information system (GIS) which provides accurate, up-to-date, and readily available geographic information to all City agencies and the public. DenverGIS uses technology to build greater collaboration between agencies and allows agencies become more efficient and effective through GIS. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES The formal job description is listed under Job Specifications on our website: ****QUALIFICATIONS Three years of current professional experience in web-based GIS software development including at least one year at a Senior / Lead level. This experience must include: * Extensive experience with Web 2.0 web development including AJAX, JSON and RESTful web service development * Strong JavaScript, JQUERY development skills * Advanced object-oriented programming skills with C# * Experience with ASP.NET MVC (or demonstrated experience with the MVC pattern in other frameworks) * Relational database development experience * Hands-on development experience with ESRI ArcGIS Server * Experience with Agile software development * Technical leadership and mentoring * Effective interpersonal communication skills Education Requirement (must be demonstrated on application): Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, Mathematics or a related field.
