GIS Mapping Jobs

A GIS mapping job involves creating and maintaining mapping and GIS projects for internet and internal use including analysis, design, production, programming, database maintenance, and implementation of GIS projects. A GIS mapping professional creates and maintains related project documentation, serve as liaison for the GIS function with other departments. A GIS mapping person evaluates and recommends various hardware and software acquisitions to produce maps and other geographic information initiatives lead role for the installation, setup, performance and maintenance of ESRI ArcSDE. A GIS mapping person creates web-enabled and printable maps using ESRI mapping software and produce ad hoc data analysis reports in multiple formats. A GIS mapping person develops internet mapping applications using JavaScript, VBScript, SQL Server, HTML/XML/ASP and ASP.NET.
A GIS mapping person should have a bachelor’s or master’s degree in civil engg./ geology/ geography/ applied geology/ applied geography/ GIS/ mapping and remote sensing. About 3 years of exposure to application of GIS & geo-spatial technology in infrastructure sector (road/ power/ telecom/ water management/ natural resource management) with project management skills may be required. A GIS mapping person must possess excellent communication skills, and must be able to prioritize and handle multiple projects.
