Geography GIS Jobs

The primary duties of geography GIS personnel include spatial analysis using ESRI Arc GIS products, generation of presentation quality maps and diagrams and GIS technical support. A geography GIS specialist must have demonstrated skills using the arc GIS suite of products, and provide a wide range of GIS support services. A geography GIS person must have experience using ESRI Arc GIS to generate presentation quality maps and diagrams in a fast-paced consulting environment. A geography GIS person must express a willingness to expand their skills and have the ability to work both independently and within a team. A geography GIS specialist, often in a team environment, provides client and technical support under the direction of the project manager or a GIS Coordinator. A geography GIS specialist applies knowledge of information system principles, spatial data processing function, spatial analysis of topological structured data, and computer programming languages and techniques to solve multi-discipline query and classification of spatial data. A geography GIS person develops complete GIS databases integrating graphic and database information to provide full GIS functionality. A geography GIS person serves as a team resource for analysis and program development with respect to GIS and related applications.
A BA/BS from an accredited college or university in GIS, cartography, geography, or environmental sciences is required for a geography GIS job. Experience with GPS or GPS/GIS data collection is also preferred for geography GIS job. Experience with multimedia development is also preferred for geography GIS job. Excellent verbal and communication skills are also required for geography GIS jobs.
