Job Description:
Position Description
Candidates for this position will be required to have an overall understanding of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) mapping techniques and design. Knowledge of ESRI's ArcGIS software is required and a general understanding of pipeline systems would be a plus. Among the candidate's responsibilities will include, but not be limited to: updating existing facility maps, creating new mapping projects on request, delivering digital map documents and data files, as well as providing routing/data analysis as required by customers. Responsibilities for the person in this position would include the following:
Interact with customers to maintain, update, and create mapping products
Maintain, digitize, update, and distribute GIS data
Provide immediate, quality response to high priority or emergency mapping projects
Perform GIS analysis in support of preliminary routing efforts while working with Project Management
Create exhibit maps for legal submissions to regulatory agencies
Create, edit, and run models with ESRI Model Builder
Assist with GIS data updates and support as needed
Plot and organize paper maps
Position Requirements
Education
Associates degree in GIS/Engineering Sciences or 6 years equivalent GIS technical experience working within the oil and gas industry Skills/Qualifications
Able to demonstrate knowledge of GIS research methods and techniques to analyze spatial data
Able to communicate GIS technology and benefits to both technical and non-technical customers in order to develop solutions that fit their requirements
Able to utilize methods and techniques employed in creating maps utilizing GIS software
Able to demonstrate a technical understanding of the Pipeline discipline is preferred - including but not limited to GIS, Pipeline Database Systems (PODS, ISAT), Class/HCA Location Determination, components and characteristics of Pipeline material, and data associated with the Pipelines
Able to understand the relationships between data interfaces and knowledge of basic database structures
Able to demonstrate excellent customer service skills and the ability to work with all levels of management as well as employees in corporate and field offices
Able to organize and prioritize daily work to meet schedules and objectives, maintain confidentiality and work with remote team members
Able to demonstrate interpersonal skills, analytical skills and the ability to analyze a problem from various perspectives and make sound recommendations as required.
Able to be self-motivated and willing to learn new and changing technologies.
Able to self-direct work activity and be able to maintain a close working relationship with reporting employees in multiple locations.
Able to show proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite products
Must possess and maintain a valid driver license and a driving record satisfactory to the company and its insurers
Maintain a high regard for personal safety, safety of company assets, employees, and the general public
Position requires occasional travel
CAD experience would be considered valuable, but not required
