Responsibilities As a remote sensing algorithms and software\u00a0developer, you will conceive original approaches and investigate existing concepts for processing and exploiting remotely sensed data such as imagery, video, and LiDAR over the electro-optical (EO) spectrum. Leveraging your experience developing\u00a0software, you will apply strong programming skills to ensure your prototypes, applications, and libraries meet what are often demanding performance needs. You will be part of our core engineering force \u2013 supporting various civil, commercial, and government programs and internal research efforts. If you enjoy variety, you\u2019ll find it here. Our approach to problem solving is multi-disciplinary, so you will collaborate with other scientists, mathematicians, developers, engineers, and physicist. Your tasking may include, e.g., investigating sensor artifacts, prototyping end-user applications, extracting spectral signatures, enhancing features in imagery, rendering 3D scenes from 2D imagery, combining data from multiple modalities into a single observation, providing a processing workflow for satellite data. As a valued contributor, you will document, publish, and brief your activities to customers, coworkers and external audiences. ***This role can be filled as an Aerospace Senior Member of Technical Staff or Engineering Specialist*** Key Functions Design and implement proof of concept software for imagery and data exploitation. Research approaches to exploit features and signatures within remotely sensed data. Support your analysis by collecting lab and field test data (occasional). Apply the scientific method to assess accuracy, performance, and utility of proposed algorithms (e.g., numerical errors, accuracy, and precision). Supply domain knowledge to inform system performance analysis and requirements development. The potential for a broad range of problems and need to have the willingness to learn and tackle new problems. Interface frequently with Aerospace customer-site representatives and Government personnel to define, execute, and status projects. Distill and communicate the accurate meaning of analytic results. Work in a cross-functional team and as an independent contributor to enable mission success. Qualifications Required Degree from an accredited university in\u00a0Engineering, Physical Sciences, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Systems, or Technology or another related field. Minimum of 5 years experience (post bachelor's degree). Experience developing algorithms to solve scientific\/engineering\/mathematic problems. Demonstrated strong professional and technical communication skills (e.g., technical documentation, status reports, algorithm description documents, presentation charts). This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance, which is issued by the U.S. government. U.S. citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance. Ability to work independently and in groups with little supervision to solve given problems.\u00a0 Preferred Experience with signal and image processing of electro-optical remote sensing imagery, video, and data. Experience with Python and particularly scientific packages such as numpy, scipy, scikit-* Experience with C (possibly C 11, C 14, or boost). Coursework in numerical methods for computer applications. Comfortable reading technical specifications or standards for algorithms and data formats. Advanced degree in applied mathematics, computer science, electrical engineering, computer engineering, physics or appropriate technical discipline from a recognized institution. Broad range of computer skills\/experience including LINUX development. Current or active TS\/SSBI. Required for consideration as an Engineering Specialist High aptitude for leadership and ability to mentor more junior engineers to solve complex issues.\u00a0 Degree from an accredited university in\u00a0Engineering, Physical Sciences, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Systems, or Technology or another related field.
