Has the role of qualified Surveyor. Responsible for budgeting, planning, and performance of contracted survey activities required on a project. Creates and implements project survey policies, guidelines, and procedures. Trains and supervises Survey Coordinators to monitor survey personnel performance and documentation to assure quality, consistency, and compliance to project requirements. Provides advanced troubleshooting support with data processing to Survey Coordinators. Ensures efficient transfer of all survey data between the field, field office, and permanent office locations. Responsible for the hiring, review, reward, discipline, and termination of survey personnel as necessary to meet project schedules, budgets, and objectives. Resolves survey performance issues with the client representative and land owners that threaten the timely completion of the project survey activities. May require working outside of standard business hours. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Analyzes project requirements and tailors the company standards to create a project specific safety plan. Encourages employees to work safely through example, encouragement, rewards, and\/or discipline. Creates company surveying standards. Analyzes project requirements and tailors the company standards to create project specific procedures. Interviews, hires, assigns, and evaluates personnel and equipment needed to carry out the required survey activities. Submits cash advance requests as necessary for new hires. Assists with pipeline route selection. Orients survey personnel, as they are assigned, on Values, safety, survey policies and procedures, and project schedule. Assigns tasks to survey personnel and explains the requirements for documentation of those tasks. Evaluates the survey personnel's performance. Provides guidance, coaching, motivation or discipline as necessary. Discipline may include termination of employment. Processes, reviews, or corrects survey data for completeness and accuracy. Works with the Drafting and Mapping departments in the Tulsa office to ensure all necessary data is being collected in the proper manner. Provides guidance, coaching, motivation or discipline as necessary to foster cooperation between field and office environments. Maintains close communications with the Project Manager\/Chief Surveyor to report survey progress, problems with and possible resolution to pertinent issues hampering project survey completion. Approves all survey personnel time and expense reports for completeness, and accuracy. Perform and document personnel performance evaluations at end of assignment. Notify Chief Surveyor and human resources of all terminations within 24 hours for processing of termination packet. Will evaluate surveying companies to ascertain whether they are qualified to work on our projects. Will coordinate with and supervise the sub - contractors including dealing with contract issues and approving invoices. Will meet with clients during the normal course of business and, at times, will be their main point of contact on survey projects. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: This position serves as manager and supervisor for survey personnel assigned to a project. May supervise multiple projects and\/or spreads simultaneously. Individual will have responsible charge over Survey Coordinators assigned to the job. Responsible for the overall project survey activities. Responsible for personnel performance review, evaluation, and project orientation to related survey activities. Identifies negative trends, problem issues, and implements resolution to reduce or eliminate adverse impacts on overall project survey performance. QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS (\u00fe minimum, preferred requirement): EDUCATION and\/or EXPERIENCE: \u00fe B. S. Degree in Land Surveying or Cartography or other Land Information Sciences. \u00fe Minimum experience required is 2 years surveying experience with previous supervisory assignments. \u00fe Must be knowledgeable in the methods and techniques of cross country pipeline surveying. Must be able to perform Global Positioning Systems (GPS) surveys, electronic data collection, and process survey data for review and transfer to mapping. Must be knowledgeable in the use of spreadsheets and word processing programs. LICENSING: \u00fe Valid driver's license Licensed as a Professional Land Surveyor in Texas REQUIRED Licensed as a Professional Surveyor in Louisiana and\/or Multiple States preferred \/a plus. ACSM Certified Survey Technician Certification LANGUAGE SKILLS: \u00fe Requires good oral communication skills. \u00fe Write clearly and concisely to prepare reports, specifications and correspondence via computer. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: \u00fe Basic knowledge to support administrative and financial analysis. \u00fe Working knowledge of Algebra, Geometry and Trigonometry to perform technical analysis. REASONING ABILITY: \u00fe Identify and solve organizational and other business related problems. \u00fe Identify and solve complex technical and administrative problems. OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES: \u00fe Effective problem solving skills, especially when dealing with conflicting personalities. \u00fe Demonstrated leadership and supervisory skills. \u00fe Ability to travel as dictated by job requirements, including immediate travel of indefinite durations. \u00fe Proficiency in PC computer operation, including computer-aided drafting software, spreadsheet and word processing programs. Experience in database operations and the use of engineering programs desired. Willingness to relocate to domestic or foreign locations. Ability to speak a foreign language. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Must have the ability to walk several (in excess of 10) miles a day, sometimes in rough terrain, in order to supervise the activities in the field. WORK ENVIRONMENT: Indoor and outdoor environment. Must be able to perform job duties in a variety of terrain ranging from swamps to deserts to forests to mountains and extreme climates, including weather, ranging from -10 degrees and snowing to 110 degrees desert heat. Will likely be exposed to a variety of plants (poison ivy, oak, and sumac) and creatures such as bears, snakes, spiders, insects, and other wildlife. SDL2017
