This position provides effective work leader services for processing cartographic technician staff.  This position is included in the bargaining unit.
This job opportunity announcement may be used to fill additional vacancies.  
The individual selected for this position will:

Distribute and balance workloads.
Participate in the training of the cartographic technician clerks.
Estimate and report on expected time of completion of work.
Check and report on quality and quantity of work in each processing area.
Test and update employer files and Internet sites as needed.
Instruct employees in various work processes and procedures required in all phases of the unit.
Be required to assist the supervisor in performing such duties as interpreting materials, handling and distribution of procedures; ascertain that clerical, geographic, statistical, and/or digitizing tasks involved in related processes are performed in accordance with procedural requirements; and resolve simple informal complaints/problems.

Tour of Duty: Monday - Friday, 7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. Alternate Work Schedule may be available at a later date. Alternate Work Schedule is an 80-hour biweekly basic work requirement that is scheduled in less than 10 days; i.e., eight 9-hour days/nights, one 8-hour day/night, and one day off. 10-hour shifts available.,qualifications:SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: You qualify at the GS-05 level if you possess one year of specialized experience in cartography or in a related field such as photogrammetry or geodesy, where the work required similar knowledge and skills. This specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the grade 04 level to meet the qualification requirements in the Federal Service. Specialized experience is defined as experience verifying cartographic work including geographic coding allocation for uses such as enumeration, evaluation or publication; and digitally inserting geocode updates into the appropriate software or geographic updates into data files. EDUCATION SUBSTITUTION:  Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree that included at least 18 semester hours in courses such as cartography, relevant mathematical and statistical sciences, or related sciences. Examples of acceptable courses include cartography, astronomy, geodesy, photogrammetry, oceanography, computer science, land surveying, geophysics, remote sensing, algebra, trigonometry, and calculus. Not more than 9 of the 18 semester hours should have been in mathematics or statistics.

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
