We currently have an opportunity for an experienced Survey Field Technician

to join our Indianapolis, IN

office. Responsibilities will include conducting a variety of surveys, including topographic and as-built surveys as well as construction staking for civil engineering projects.

Primary Responsibilities

Organizes, plans and conducts field surveys including data collection for project design and right of way acquisition that conform to INDOT specifications for field procedures and field book documentation.

Collaborates with engineers and project managers to plan survey tasks to meet project requirements.

Ability to analyze and manipulate survey data and perform basic calculations as required.

Conducts deed research.

Identifies and locates property corners.

Performs labor demanding tasks such as carrying and loading equipment, clearing brush and other physical tasks associated with performing land surveys.

Position Requirements

A.S. degree in surveying/geomatics, civil engineering or related field is preferred. High school diploma or GED is required.

5 years of experience performing topographic surveys in support of civil engineering projects (DOT and route survey) is required.

Demonstrated ability to accurately perform conventional, robotic and GPS land surveys.

Proficiency with Topcon robotic GPS data collector and related software or similar systems is required.

Experience with one or more of the following CAD platforms: Microstation/GeoPak, Civil 3d, AutoCAD is desired.

Good communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with other team members.

Ability to work independently and complete tasks on-time and within budget.

Valid driver’s license is required.
