Position Summary

In-silico analysis on the geographical distribution of methanotrophs in near-surface dust samples across the United States.

- Analysis of high-throughput 16S rRNA sequencing

- Generate maps of methanotrophs geographical distribution

- Write summary of results as research paper

- Review literature on the links between macroecology, life-energy constraints and evolution of life on Earth

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

- Proficiency in R or Python

- Skill in analyzing large datasets

- Previous experience in methanotrophic communities

- Holistic and critical thinking

- Writing ability

Minimum Qualifications

- Proficiency in R or Python

Arizona Board of Regents Minimum Qualifications

Masters degree in a field appropriate to the area of assignment AND three years of related research experience; OR, Bachelors degree in a field appropriate to the area of assignment and four years of related research experience; OR, any equivalent combination of experience, training and/or education.Preferred Qualifications

- Bachelors or higher degree in Geology, Biology or Biogeochemistry.
