We are currently seeking a GIS Coordinator responsible to develop advanced, specialized maps utilizing geographic information and best practices in our New Orleans, LA office. Under direction of the GIS Manager, plans, coordinates, oversees and participates in the development, implementation, integration, operation, and maintenance of Ponds Oil and Gas geographic information system (GIS); designs and implements information systems for provision of access to GIS data; develops and implements specialized GIS applications; oversees the design and development of all databases associated with GIS deliverables; coordinates field personnel for GPS driven field data collection; and performs a variety of technical tasks relative to assigned area of responsibility.
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Minimum 2 year (AA) degree in a GIS-related field required; and one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Operations, services, and activities of a geographic information system program. Uses, capabilities, and operational characteristics of geographic information systems equipment and specialized hardware including ArcGIS Desktop, ArcServer and computer mapping applications. Cartographic standards, principles and procedures. Methods and techniques of engineering, land surveying, planning, and spatial analysis as it relates to geographic information systems. Operation and maintenance of computer software and hardware, operating systems, local and wide area networks, internet and remote access computer systems. Concepts of relational database systems. Database design and development. Principles and practices of supervision and training. Pertinent federal, state and local laws, codes and regulations.
