Wood Environment & Infrastructure Solutions is seeking a Junior to Mid-Level Environmental Scientist
to join our Knoxville, TN team and are dedicated to providing the atmosphere to allow individuals to grow their career. This position requires an individual with effective organization and written communication skills as significant project tracking, data evaluation, report preparation, and interactions with the project team are expected.
Key Responsibilities
Performs moderately complex diverse technical tasks for multiple projects. - Standard project assignments include drafting work plans, projecting budgets, coordinating task implementation, oversight of subcontractors, and organizing and evaluating data
Prepares technical proposals and reports, in whole or in part, depending on the size and complexity of the document
Prepare remedial investigation reports, remediation and investigation work plans, remedial designs, health and safety plans, and related documents
Demonstrate understanding and ability to interpret and define state regulatory, TSCA, RCRA and DOT guidance and requirements
Prepare components of reports including data organization, graphical representations, work summaries, and data summaries
Drafting technical evaluations, conclusions, and recommendations for reporting to clients and regulatory agencies
Will assist the Project Manager and the project team with ensuring effective client and regulatory agency communication and relations
Will work with the Project Manager on technical assignments and management on specific elements of the project (i.e., Task Management)
Assists in planning of work, defining the scope, developing cost estimates and projecting sc
B.S. degree in Geology, Hydrogeology, Environmental Engineering, Soil Science, or related field is required and M.S. is preferred
Professional registration in pursuit of a P.G, or P.E. is expected
2 - 5 years environmental experience including environmental
remediation/engineering
Must be proficient in MS Office Suite (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Work experience on
commercial/industrial
contracts, federal firm fixed price, and performance based contacts desired
Demonstrated excellent written and verbal communication and organizational abilities are required
Willingness and ability to interact with and develop working relationships with regulatory agencies, stakeholders, subcontractors, clients and the client’s onsite personnel
Flexibility to work outside of normal business hours as required
Ability and willingness to travel to project sites
The position may entail approximately 70% office work and 30% field work on a variety of projects including
industrial/commercial,
State and Federal sites of environmental contamination
Must demonstrate data evaluation and written communication skills during candidate evaluation process
Completion of OSHA HAZWOPER 40 hour training in accordance with 29CFR 1910.120 and additional training as required for individual clients and projects
Must pass drug test, entrance physical, and background check and must have a satisfactory driving record in accordance with the Company's driving (MVR) policy
