The Assistant GIS Designer will work on an integrated design team within our Transmission and Distribution (T&D) division to perform the following duties:
Assist in the design, setup and configuration of ESRI ArcGIS (Map & Pro) environments for both internal and external clients.
Creation/management of GIS features, domains, attributes and symbology.
Exploring and creating innovative ways GIS can be implemented for different client needs/use cases.
Assist with a full range of drawing production work including problem analysis, network topology layout and calculations on non-routine assignments of substantial variety and complexity.
Assist with analyzing reports, drawings, and calculations; create and maintain BOM and cable schedules.
Work closely with engineering project teams and field personnel to complete and review projects within scope, budget and schedule. Perform project tasks and assignments within budgeted hours and deadlines.
Incorporate schedules, budgets and project criteria into physical design and layouts.

Associate’s degree in drafting and design and five years related telecommunications/GIS experience or a bachelor's degree in drafting or related field and three years of related experience.
Strong understanding of design software such as: AutoCAD, GIS, and Excel to develop the design deliverables. Ability to learn and effectively utilize new design software programs.
Ability to utilize both 2D and 3D applications to prepare engineering drawings.
Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills and strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Experience with python or other programming languages.
Experience with hierarchy/layer-based software (OSI, Archestra, 3DSMax, etc.)
Basic knowledge in the theory and practices of engineering discipline.
Ability to multitask in a fast pace, deadline driven work environment.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office suite.
