Redhorse Corporation has an immediate career opportunity for a junior GIS Technician who will support Naval Air Weapons Station (NAWS) China Lake. The GIS Technician will perform as part of an integrated team to develop, maintain, and report geospatial data layers depicting the built and natural environment. The data must be compliant with applicable Department of Defense (DoD) and Navy Geospatial Information Systems (GIS) standards and specifications.
The GIS Technician will upload data captured from a variety of sources, apply spatial analysis techniques, create effective maps, and acquire new datasets as needed.
Data entry Uploading imagery captured by UAVs Manually digitizing and georeferencing features Analyzing GIS data to identify spatial relationships and displaying the results of analyses Evaluating GIS data for currency and accuracy against existing documentation Performing research to expand existing datasets Attending weekly meetings to brief leadership
Minimum Basic Requirements for Skills, Experience, Education and Credentials include:
High School Diploma Experience creating cartographic products Experience working with geospatial databases Ability to conduct spatial analysis Possess effective communication skills Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite Demonstrated experience using ArcGIS for Desktop 10.X Demonstrated experience using ArcPad 10.X Familiarity with Trimble GPS units and processing data collected
Additional Preferred Requirements for Skills, Experience, Education and Credentials include:
GIS Certification Familiarity with federal regulations pursuant to the Historic Preservation Act Experience with environmental surveys conducted on federal lands Experience with Spatial Data Standards for Facilities, Infrastructure, and Environment Familiarity with Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator
