for

a GIS Specialist III within our Environmental Monitoring Division/Geospatial and Engineering Services Section at our Headquarters facility in Millersville, MD. This position will manage various tasks with numerous MES State partner Agencies and will work as a member of a multidisciplinary team that fosters innovative solutions using GIS-based technologies. They will analyze and support mapping and GIS-based environmental planning applications as a technical lead documenting and translating requirements for application development project team members. This position develops and gives professional presentations to staff, state agencies, local governments, and other stakeholder groups. The selected candidate may also assist with field data collection (overnight travel is a possibility), populating databases, maintaining

geodatabases

, testing new applications, and performing analysis using ESRI’s Desktop

ArcGIS

and

ModelBuilder

. The selected candidate will also manage junior-level staff (and their associated workloads), to support the mission of MES and their partners.

/> Qualifications include

a

Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Geography, GIS Technology, Computer Science, Environmental Science, or related field, with at least 9 credit hours in courses specifically related to GIS operation/management, plus 5 years of related experience, two of which must have included responsibility for managing projects and/or supervising professional or technical staff. Advanced education may be substituted for up to 2 years of experience.

Must have a valid driver’s license with less than 5 points.
