This staff-level position has the overall accountability to provide independent task planning, execution, analysis, and reporting for specific disciplines under general direction. The successful candidate will apply established technical approaches, process and methods, and communicate technical and non-technical information internally to meet client needs. This work will allow the individual to gain knowledge and experience that may be useful to apply for professional certifications in technical disciplines.
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to: Support environmental and geotechnical assessment and remediation projects by providing field support, data management and interpretation, technical assistance, and reporting
Perform field work that will consist of supervising drilling and well installation activities, logging test borings, and collecting soil, surface water, groundwater, and soil gas samples
Assist with quality assurance/quality control of work product, and development of health and safety plans and work plans
Critically review and evaluate new information in the context of the project objectives and regulatory environment
Consider issues from both broad and detailed perspectives, locating errors and logical inconsistencies in cross-disciplinary work
Research and solve technical problems, apply established technical approaches/process/methods in accordance with accepted practice/methodology, and report on results
Interact with multi-office and multi-discipline teams within AECOM, and work under supervision and direction by Project Managers and more senior technical resources
Bachelor’s Degree in geology or other geology-related discipline (e.g., geophysics, hydrogeology, geochemistry, environmental geology, engineering geology)
General knowledge of geological principles including physical geology, stratigraphy, structural geology, geomorphology, environmental geology, and geophysics
Good written and verbal communication skills with an ability to convey complex thoughts and ideas in a clear and concise manner
Ability to work effectively in a team environment and to learn through on-the-job experience
Proficiency in standard MS Office suite software applications
Valid US State Driver’s License and ability to travel
Qualified applicants who are offered a position must pass a pre-employment physical, substance abuse test, and background screening
Due to the nature of this position, US citizenship is required
Hazwoper 40-hour safety training and current annual 8-hour refresher
