In a leadership position as part of the GIS and Planning team: admin GIS and coordinate planning and manage data for the Collection Network activities.

The incumbent will be responsible for the administration, development, operation, maintenance and oversight of the project Geographic Information System (GIS) ensuring proper usage and maintenance of the System.


Responsible for the administration of the GIS System related to the Managed Assets

Responsible for the administration and maintenance of the Work Order Management System, reviews and analyzes data and information, provides System configuration’s and work processes’ modification recommendations and feedback to Supervisors and Managers

Responsible for ensuring proper utilization and compliance with all project policies and procedures in accordance with client requirements

Supports Operations, Maintenance and Engineering by keeping System management database current

Provides training, technical assistance and support for the Collection System crews, supervisors and other employees, client or contractors.

Assists Project Management with preparation of regulatory, client/contract and corporate reporting requirements.

Assists Project Management with all efforts related to Contract Compliance

Work closely with client/customer, vendors and contractors ensuring professional, courteous, prompt service and satisfaction

Assist project with compliance with all Corporate and Regulatory requirements

Incumbent may be occasionally exposed to some noise, silica, dust, fumes, smoke, gases, greases, oils, electrical energy, solvents, and vibrations. Incumbent may work on slippery/uneven surfaces, around machinery with moving parts, moving objects/vehicles, and ladder/scaffolding, below ground and may be exposed to water and other liquid materials.

Excellent troubleshooting/problem solving skills, provides input for corrective actions

Proficient in Windows, MS Office Suite, Access, SQL Server, Oracle, UML Tools, ArcInfo 10.x, ArcEditor 10.x, ArcView 10.x, ArcGIS Extensions, Model Builder, ArcPad, GPS Unit, VBA for ArcGIS, ArcSDE, ArcIMS, Autodesk, and other computer based systems

Must have the ability to maintain effective working relations w/management, supervisors and staff

Must be able to communicate well w/individuals at all skill, knowledge and experience levels

Must be able to work as a team in a teamwork-oriented environment

Must be safety conscious and able to work independently with little or no supervision

/Nature & Scope-Principal Areas of Responsibilities:/*

Admin the development of the Geographic Information System

Researches, develops, and implements standards for GIS systems, including but not limited to databases, applications, and training programs

Produces GIS files and outputs for mapping, engineering projects, and presentations

Enhances and promotes the utilization of GIS through technical support for other team members on a daily basis

Work with raster and vector data, perform spatial analyses including queries, create layers, define coordinate systems, join and relate database files, import excel files and create map points from the data within them

Ensures the company digital system information, distribution system asset database and system maps are accurately updated and kept current

On a regular basis will perform various data entry tasks.

QA/QC and basic analysis of data entered into and out of the system.

Ensures the databases are updated and maintained as required

Develops updates, and produces Work processes, information and reports for project management and departments as requested

Assure work is performed in a safe and professional manner by following all corporate and regulatory policies, procedures, and emergency response procedures.

Carries out other duties as assigned

Required Experience


High School diploma or equivalent, Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or related field, (or equivalent experience)

Can be substituted for Trade School/Military Service or Technical School

Valid NYS Driver’s license and the ability to meet risk management guidelines

/Work Experience Needed:/*

Low to Mid-Level 2-5 years’ Utility experience, with specific experience in planning and/or large databases management (Excel, Access, Cristal Report…).

Mid to High-Level 5-10 years’ Experience with GIS

Experience with Work Order and/or CRM – Customer Relationship Management – System preferred
