PRIMARY DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
Works independently under general supervision. #CD# Updates Geographic Information Systems (GIS) with information from standard source documents such as: work orders, drawings, maps, written and verbal instructions which model electric, #CD# gas distribution#CD# and transmission systems. #CD# Examines work for correctness and accuracy through a Quality Assurance process and tools to ensure the Company safety standards and procedures are met with high quality data. #CD# Examines a variety of documentation such as maps, records, and plans for accuracy and#CD# ad hoc inquiries. #CD# May periodically perform field checks to locate equipment and verify data accuracy. #CD# Produces a variety of drawings and maps from the GIS database.
Contacts designers, contractors, and field personnel in performing required research to determine accurate facility data to be updated in the GIS. #CD# Operates computer programs to support functions, such as CC CD# B, #CD# Asset Suite 8, Atlas, NMS, and MS Office. Records work performed in performance database. #CD# Responsible for accuracy of the work being controlled. #CD# Communicates with members in other units to interpret discrepancies in records and resolves them in an accurate and timely manner. Applies knowledge of GIS, data models, and alternative management. #CD# Required to work overtime as needed.
Demonstrated knowledge of Windows operating system and file management practices.
Demonstrated knowledge of word processing, data base and spreadsheet applications.
Demonstrated ability to use MicroStation and GIS including Microsoft applications. Demonstrated ability to analyze errors and data issues and work with complex systems.
Demonstrated ability to interpret construction drawings, various corporate map records, and construction standards.
Familiarity with gas and electric distribution maps and records, and the#CD# CC CD# B and#CD# Asset Suite 8systems.
Ability to learn quickly and work independently.
Must pass the U. S. Department of Transportation required chemical test.
Valid drivers licence and the ability to meet Company driving standards.
Two years post high school education and over three years in appropriate design, engineering, GIS, and/or drafting or the equivalent combination of formal education/training and experience.
