GIS Consulting Jobs

A GIS consultant provides leadership in the implementation of enterprise GIS solutions within the region. A GIS consultant job demands many duties as well as responsibilities besides personal technical proficiency, such as providing technical consulting and managing teams. A GIS consultant provides consultation over projects. A GIS consultant conjuncts with the business development manager, plans, and formalizes proposals. A GIS consultant works with a team of specialists to implement GIS and related technologies as an enterprise solution. A GIS consultant carries-out business development and maintains client relationship in the region. A GIS consultant interfaces with and works in multi-disciplinary teams in which the contribution of each member is equally valued. GIS consultant helps to develop and use the software related to GIS equipments. A GIS consultant must be able to work with the client to edit and update functional specifications, report specifications, interface design documents, conversions and enhancement specifications in order to deploy an integrated GIS solution.
A bachelor’s degree in electronics or in computer science related to geographical information science is required for a GIS consulting job. Communication skills are also preferred for GIS consulting jobs. Three to five years of experience is also preferred for GIS consulting jobs. A GIS consultant usually requires to be well versed in ESRI, Maximo MXES, ArcGIS desktop, and server technology as well as in Map Guide Enterprise.
