GIS Conservation Jobs

A GIS conservation manager develops, promotes, and coordinates citizens task force activities related to water conservation. A GIS conservation manager manages and directs the activities of the conservation awareness patrol, performing water audits, providing information to property owners and conducting water waste monitoring and enforcement activities. A GIS conservation manager reviews and comments on water rate options developed by the finance department, including conservation rate and incentive alternatives. A GIS conservation manager is responsible for developing and managing all water conservation activities and programs for the district. A GIS conservation manager provides day-to-day leadership and works with supervisors and staff to ensure a high performance, customer service-oriented work environment that supports achieving the department’s mission. A GIS conservation manager maintains an up-to-date understanding of current legislation relative to water conservation issues. A GIS conservation manager plans, organizes, directs and evaluates the performance of assigned supervisors and staff; establishes performance requirements and personal development targets; regularly monitors performance and provides coaching for performance improvement and development; determines compensation and provides other rewards to recognize performance; takes disciplinary action, up to and including termination, to address performance deficiencies, in accordance with district policies and labor contract agreements.
A bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university with major course work in earth or plant sciences, marketing, journalism, or a closely related field is required for a GIS conservation job. Three years of experience in the development and implementation of water conservation programs is preferred for GIS conservation jobs. Knowledge of policies, practices, and methods for developing and administering a comprehensive water conservation program are preferred for GIS conservation jobs. A GIS conservation manager must have the ability to understand, explain, interpret, and apply complex federal, state, and district requirements relating to water conservation.
